With FC Dale being the league’s top scorers this was always going to be a tough game but no-one could’ve predicted how it went. We actually scored 4 goals and they scored none. That’s the 1st time this season that FC Dale have failed to score. So why did we lose 3-1? Because 3 of our goals were own goals. On another day, our own goals would have been great clearances but it just didn’t go that way today.
Next week sees the return of John, Nutty and maybe Wizzer (?)
Easty has resigned due to family commitments
Gooders needs a month off to recover
BONUS QUESTION:
Who said this just before the game:
“I’m glad we’re playing a team full of young lads cos there’ll be plenty of young, fit birds stood around watching”

It’ll be a pub quiz question in a few years. Not the bonus one, although that may be – who am I to say it won’t, but the one about scoring four goals and losing 3-1. Unlucky boys, from what I hear, you gave those young ‘uns a real going over. How did Gooders enjoy the start?

Hello raring to go. Where were you on Sunday?
yeah I enjoyed the start. It was good to be in the thick of things.
I kept sprinting off up-field only to spend the next 2 minutes unable to breathe… Lammie and Sparky helped curb my enthusiasm so that I could last more than 20 minutes.
I didn’t enjoy my own goal AT ALL and I was kinda responsible for their 2nd breakaway goal after I was muscled off the ball in their half. So that sucked. But I had a few sprints behind enemy lines which almost led to something good. And I played the through ball to Woody who crossed for Sparky’s goal. So that was nice too.

wots gone on with easty?

His missus took a job where she has to work on Sundays meaning he has to stay home with the kids. Alas, the footy was henceforth and hencewith sacrificed.

Unfortunately I have had to quit the morning scene. It was becoming difficult to find child cover on a Sunday morning as the mrs regularly works overtome on Sunday mornings.
Also, my ageing legs could not cope with the vigours of morning football after I have played for Royton Town on a Saturday afternoon.
To bring you right up to date, since I made this decision I have signed for High Crompton in the OSL. Playing afternoons again will benefit both my circumstances and my ageing legs!!
I wish the Turks Head all the best for the season and I have no doubt you will be up there at the end of the season.
Yours in goals

Here’s my alternative theory on the Easty situation:
With The Summit getting destroyed week after week, Andrew ‘Mr Amateur Football’ Eastwood realised he needed to preserve his reputation by disassociating himself with the club. He would have liked to have gone to his first love, High Crompton, but realised that jumping ship when his team are struggling (to go and join the title chasers, no less) would be an act of unforgivable treachery.
So he made the noble decision to leave the league altogether and join the mighty Turks instead. However, just two games into his new club career, the Summit folded! Easty realised that there was now no valid reason preventing him from returning to High Crompton (who, given their lack of depth in the striking department, had likely been courting him for a while).
He then concocted an elaborate JFK-scale cover-up story, involving child care and arthritic knees, to throw everyone off the scent of his mercenary ways.
And it would have fooled everyone…if not for the cunning of the Conspiracy Theorist!

Our client Mr Andy Eastwood would like to release the following statement about any possible wrong-doing.
The transfer of myself to High Crompton took place last Tuesday. At that time there was no sign that Summit FC would fold by the end of the week.
So in fact I signed for HC whilst Summit were still in existence.
If both parties (myself & HC) had have known that the Summit were to fold then I’m sure something would have been sorted so that HC wouldn’t have had to pay a transfer fee.

I love a good conspiracy theory.
All the best Easty. It was good having you here.

Only just brought myself to leave a comment about Suns result.Firstly of all a apology for the classiest own goal likely to be scored on fortress firgrove.Secondly a massive pat on the back to everyone after a tremendos effort on Sun,we definetly deserved better.Thirdly, gooders, you can not start another game, because;a. photos are bollocks this week, b.i dont have a bungee long enough for your jaunts up front….. Only joking mate, you had a fab full debut.
Easty, sorry to lose you so soon, enjoyed your contribution to the team, and also getting to know the legend Eastwood. Hope everything works for you,and would welcome you back anytime in the future,as Andy was, plus i didnt get to see your nob in the shower.
Same performance and effort on Sun boys.!!

Oh well, orchy will just have to put me up front so I can stay up there.
Ste’s away for the cup game leaving a gaping me-sized hole up front wouldn’t you say?
November 17, 2006 at 12:10 pm
You should definitely be up front Gooders. The quality of your finishing last Sunday was impeccable. And the further we can get you away from our own goalmouth, the better.
