Fixture Info

April 22, 2007

Our fixture info has been updated on the Rochdale Online website.

We play Whitworth Valley three times in the next eight days and also have a couple of tough league games against Wardleworth and Copperpot Res.

You can link over to all our fixture info from the FIXTURES page on this site.

No Match on Thursday

April 17, 2007

Just to let you know that we DO NOT have a game on Thursday – unfortunately the opposition couldn’t agree to a match on such short notice.

We do have a cup game on Sunday though, and Sparky is still trying to book Soccer Village for an hour on Thursday for those who fancy it.

The Season is BACK ON (and we might have a match on THURSDAY)!

April 16, 2007

As most of you will have heard by now, our fixtures have been reinstated and the good news is that we already have a cup match scheduled against Whitworth Valley this coming Sunday.

However, the GREAT news is that El Capitano informs me we might have a game as early as Thursday. We’re currently waiting for the potential opposition (Old Bricklayers) to let us know if they’re available, so please keep your eye out for updates as we’ll let you know as soon as we get confirmation either way.

To that end, can everybody who reads this please leave a comment letting us know your availability for potential fixtures on both Thursday and Sunday?

(UPDATED) Turks Head vs. Whitworth Valley (CONFIRMED!)

April 4, 2007

POTENTIALLY We have another big game on Sunday lads – we had been led to believe we would be playing Premier League Cartshaft in the Rochdale Online League Cup, but it turns out that Whitworth Valley knocked them out on penalties last night.

So we’ll be playing Whitworth Valley instead. HOWEVER, Whitworth currently have a league match against Copperpot scheduled for Sunday, so it’s not clear if we have a game or not yet. The fixtures have been updated on the Rochdale Online website to show that we are definitely playing this fixture this coming Sunday. CLICK HERE TO VIEW FIXTURES.

The fixtures secretary for the league has explained to El Capitano that it will all be figured out at the league meeting on Thursday…so we’ll expect final confirmation tomorrow likely find out at training if/who/where we are playing this weekend.

In any case, I think we all know we’ll need to put a much better performance in than last night if we’re going to extend our winning streak to seven.

Did anybody pick up any injuries last night? Is anyone unavailable for Sunday (if we have a game)? Is Goodwin nearing a return to action?

Bay Horse vs. Turks Head

April 2, 2007

The fixtures are coming thick and fast now, starting with our first round match in the W E Kay Trophy (league shield) against Bay Horse tomorrow night.

We’re away from home so we’ll be playing at Heywood Sports Centre where we beat them 6-0 in the league just over a week ago.

Kick off is at 6:30pm, so everyone is to meet in the pub at 5:30pm (5:45pm at the absolute latest!). If you’re planning on going straight to Heywood Sports Centre, please make sure you let the boss know, and make sure you are there by 6:00pm.

Other than the long-term casualties (Mikey G and Goodwin), is anybody else unavailable for this match? I heard a whisper that Woody might not be able to make it, in which case we could be looking for another energetic performance from Lyonsy…though hopefully with less fisticuffs this time! Is The Machine back? And what about Easty, is he going to come along?

Bay Horse seem to be on a bit of a bad run at the moment, they were well beaten by Whitworth Valley yesterday, whilst we have now won five on the spin. So let’s make sure we keep our good run going because I think we’d all quite fancy a decent cup run and a day out for the final.

Weekend Update

December 4, 2006

The league table and fixtures are updated.

Some games did go ahead this weekend, even though ours was called off. Copperpot Reserves kept up their 100% record with a 4-1 win over The Star. Old Bricklayers got their first points of the season, beating fellow strugglers DC United 2-1 in a bottom-of-the-table clash. And FC Dale widened the gap ahead of us by beating Bay Horse 5-1.

We’re now 5 points off 2nd place, but there’s a long way to go (12 league games actually), and we still have another game against FC Dale to come. Ourselves and FC Dale both have to play Copperpot Reserves twice between now and the end of the season, so there are a lot of potential six-pointers in the race for promotion.

Pre-match build-up – Wounded Animal Syndrome

November 30, 2006

Sunday’s opponents, Royal Exchange, are currently sitting second bottom of the league and were thumped 12-1 in the cup last weekend.

But underestimate them at your peril. We all remember how we struggled to finish off BOTTOM of the league side, Old Bricklayers, relying on a scrambled last minute winner from Andy van der Jones. And their cup exit was at the hands of Premiership pacesetters, Copperpot, who would probably turn over most teams in our division. I fancy Royal Exchange to come out fighting this weekend.

A win is essential this weekend if we are to keep the pressure on the teams above us, so let’s make sure we all train hard tonight and go into the game with the right attitude on Sunday.

Are there any absentees this weekend? Through injury or otherwise…

Pre-Match Buildup THFC Vs DC Utd

October 12, 2006

3 days to go until we play DC Utd in the Rochdale Online Cup. Will Orchy rest some of his first 11 to let the keen subs get a game? Will Easty get a start? Will Wizzer be back from injury? Will Nutty make that chubby lad cry again? Have Illy, John, Si, Lammie, Dave Hall and Sedge gone off to start a new team?

Gooooooders thinks he’s pulled his hamstring. A doubt for the weekend.
Wizzer describes himself as “injured” in a recent comment
Sparky, Ste, Mark and Rob Day were on the sidelines during training.
Super-human Hulmey pulled up at one point towards the end of the gruelling fitness regime – not sure what his complaint was though.

Any other news?
